Achdut Adventure Labs — 501(c)(3) Approved. Target Launch: Summer 2027.
The camp for Jewish kids who make things.
Fully observant: daily tefillah, Shomer Shabbos and Kashrut, and serious STEM every weekday.
Achdut Adventure Inc. is a 501(c)(3) public charity. EIN: 33-2625154. All donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
🌍 THE MISSION
For decades, observant families hpad to choose between serious STEM programs that weren’t Shomer Shabbat, or bigger planstraditional Jewish camps that didn’t dive into modern technology.
Achdut Adventure Labs bridges that divide — creating a space where faith, creativity, and innovation coexist naturally.
We’re building a place where Jewish children can:
-
Build robots, launch rockets, code games, and 3D print creations
-
Learn Torah and ethics woven into their projects
-
Live in a culture of kindness, safety, and inclusion
-
Celebrate Shabbat together with ruach and rest
This is not “school in the woods.” It’s camp — bunkmates, late-night laughs, rope courses, swimming, and movement every day — anchored in halacha and infused with innovation.
🧒 WHY IT MATTERS
We’re creating the first observant overnight camp where Jewish kids can make things — physically, spiritually, and socially.
STEM/STEAM at the core:
Robotics, 3D printing, coding, rocketry, drones, game design, woodworking, podcasting, and AI.
Movement built in:
Ropes, sports, aquatics, pickleball, hiking, and dance — because campers learn better when they move.
Halacha honored:
Tefillah three times a day for boys, structured morning tefillah for girls, full Shabbat programming, and no electronics visible on Shabbat.
Safety prioritized:
Mashgiach and medical staff, CPR-certified team, donor-named House of Health, AEDs across campus, and proactive mental health support.
Kindness as culture:
Trained staff who look out for every child — including those with sensory sensitivities, allergies, or anxiety.
At Achdut Adventure Labs, no one gets left behind or left out.
🧪 WHY NOW?
Nothing like this exists in the Jewish observant world. We’ve finally secured IRS 501(c)(3) approval and are now in our funding and site acquisition phase.
Our realistic opening date is Summer 2027, allowing us to build with the excellence and care this mission deserves.
Our Phase I Goal: $500,000
To fund site control, insurance, legal work, staffing, and staff training.
Our Phase II Goal: $2,000,000
To fund permanent campus structures:
The Makerspace Building, Dining Hall, House of Health, Beit Midrash, Lake Adventure Zone, and Swimming Pool.
Just a concept of what the makerspace could look like…but we have bigger plans!
🏕️ PROGRAMS THAT STAND OUT
We’ve carefully curated a number of programs that will be unique to our program, which include:-
ElectroGlow Havdalah ✨ — A campwide Saturday-night celebration with music, light, and ruach.
-
Soundscapes Studio 🎧 — Podcasting, video, and audio production.
-
Structural Explorers 🏗️ — Campwide “big builds,” like bridges or glowing art installations.
-
Personal Safety & Self-Defense 🛡️ – With the rise of antisemitism, self-defense and situational awareness are essential. With parental permission, campers will have the option to participate in supervised self-defense classes focused on confidence, safety, and Jewish values.
-
Farm & Garden 🌱 — Sustainability in action: composting, growing food, and ecological responsibility.
-
Sports & Adventure 🏀 — Swimming, archery, ropes, and outdoor challenges — all gender-separated and supervised.
Children will harness skills to defend themselves, building skills and self-esteem along the way.
💡 A DAY IN THE LIFE
Mornings begin with tefillah and breakfast, followed by electives in robotics, 3D printing, and coding.
Afternoons bring aquatics, sports, and adventure — movement every day.
Evenings are for creative electives, campfire programs, and reflection.
When Friday night arrives, the campus slows together.
Candles are lit, songs fill the air, and meals bring campers and staff together for the kind of Shabbat joy that leaves a lifelong imprint.
The best vegan challah in the world beats out the non-vegan challahs, we promise!
🏞️A CAMPUS DESIGNED FOR BEAUTY
We are scouting a property with a creek, lake, and wooded trails. These natural spaces will become part of camp life: hikes, science experiments, photography, and quiet reflection. A camp that inspires in every corner.
💝VALUES THAT MATTER
-
Equality & Inclusion 🧑🤝🧑 – We have a no-package policy to keep camp on a level playing field. All packages will be opened to ensure compliance: no outside snacks (avoiding kashrut and allergy concerns) and no items that isolate campers.
-
Optional Canteen 🍫 – If funded, a canteen may offer treats — but never in a way that divides campers. Camp remains about friendships, not purchases.
-
Device-Free Camp 📵 – Staff use walkies, not phones in view of campers. Kids use technology only in the Makerspace for learning, so they stay present in nature and friendships.
✨ OUR PHILOSOPHY OF KINDNESS
At Achdut Adventure Labs, kindness isn’t a program — it’s the culture. Every staff member is trained to notice and support children, from the loudest extroverts to the quietest dreamers. We believe that campers remember not just the projects they build, but the warmth they feel from those around them.
📖 JEWISH INNOVATORS IN EVERY BUNK
Our bunks are named for Jewish innovators and changemakers. Campers will live in spaces that inspire them to dream big, knowing that people just like them have reshaped the world.
⚙️ THE MAKERSPACE: OUR CROWN JEWEL
Every great idea needs a place to grow. The Makerspace will be the centerpiece of camp — filled with 3D printers, robotics kits, soldering irons, and laser cutters. It’s where campers will turn their imaginations into reality and where donors will know they’ve sparked real innovation.
🧑🤝🧑 STAFF: THE HEART OF THE CAMP
Our staff are more than supervisors — they’re role models. Each one is carefully selected for their expertise in STEM, their commitment to Jewish life, and their ability to bring out the best in children. With extra mental health support, training, and even on-site daycare, our staff can give campers their very best.
💧 HEALTH, HYDRATION, AND SAFETY
Every camper carries a reusable water bottle — and we’ve designed camp around keeping them safe and hydrated. Water refill and washing stations will be scattered across campus, alongside a donor-named House of Health for medical support and AED units for emergencies.
🪑EVERYDAY COMFORTS THAT MATTER
Beyond the big projects, we care about the small touches that shape summer: swing benches, Adirondack circles, picnic groves, hydration and washing stations, and shaded benches scattered across campus. Thoughtful details that make campers feel safe, comfortable, and cared for.
👶FAMILY, BELONGING, AND COMMUNITY AT THE CORE
Happy staff create happy campers. That’s why we’re providing on-site daycare for staff kids, staff lounges for rest, and family-oriented Shabbat environments. Achdut Adventure Labs is not just for campers — it’s a community hub where staff and families thrive together.
🌸 YEAR ROUND COMMUNITY AND EVENTS
Achdut Adventure Labs won’t just come alive in the summer. We envision hosting year-round events — from family weekends and reunions to benefit dinners and community programs. These gatherings will help fund summer programming and future campus additions, while strengthening our camp family throughout the year.
🌳 GROUNDS AND CARE
To ensure that our facilities are safe, beautiful, and welcoming, we plan to employ a groundskeeper. Their role will be to care for the land, maintain our outdoor program areas, and help campers learn firsthand about stewardship of the environment.
📈 VALIDATED BY INTEREST, EVEN WITHOUT MARKETING
We’ve done zero marketing — no ads, no outreach — and yet families across the country have already found the website we launched in 2023 and reached out. This organic interest proves what we already know: Achdut Adventure Labs fills a gap that Jewish families have been waiting for.
🗣️ PARENT VOICES
“Finally — a camp where my child can code and build without compromising observance.”
“My son never felt at home in sporty camps. This is the first place he’ll truly belong.”
“As a parent of a child with allergies, I can breathe easier knowing how seriously you take kashrut and cross-contamination.”
🏞️ THE CAMPUS WE’RE BUILDING
We’re scouting a property with a lake, creek, and wooded trails — a place where campers can build in the Makerspace in the morning and hike under the stars at night.
Benches, swing circles, and picnic groves will make every corner of campus feel like home.
🧑🤝🧑 WHO’S BEHIND THIS
We’ve assembled a founding team that blends STEM expertise, Jewish education, health, and camp administration:
-
A community day school rabbi with 40+ years of experience, beloved for his humor and Tanach insights.
-
A chinuch teacher from SAR Academy who successfully integrates STEM into Judaic studies.
-
Professionals in health, compliance, and mental health, ensuring calm, safety, and trust.
-
And our founder — Tamar Weinberg — leading this vision from idea to reality.
👩🏻 FOUNDER’S STORY — TAMAR WEINBERG
I grew up observant and computer-obsessed — the kid who was always taking apart hardware and building PCs for my family.
My best summers were at Camp Raleigh in the Catskills, where I first dreamed of combining Jewish camp and innovation.
Later, I attended a summer science program on a college campus — it was fascinating, but it felt like “summer school,” not camp.
Achdut Adventure Labs is my way of bringing those worlds together:
A true camp experience, steeped in Jewish life, built around making, movement, and meaning.
Along the way, I’ve:
- In high school, I worked with Kesher, a program for children with special needs, and served as a Shabbat youth leader.
- At Columbia University, I built the first-ever Columbia Hillel website (you can still find my name in the credits!) and later served as President of the Columbia Jewish Alumni Association from its founding after October 7 through the 2025 academic year.
-
I’ve served on the mikvah committee at my shul for several years
-
I spearheaded many of the grassroots COVID response efforts in New Rochelle, NY — the first U.S. community epicenter. (News coverage on my involvement was extensive: 60 Minutes, NBC, FOX (and FOX again), FOX Business, FOX News (and again), News 12, CNN, Tamron Hall, USA Today. CBS, the BBC, Sky News, and Healthline.)
-
Along the way, I’ve worked at pluralistic and observant summer camps in senior health and office leadership roles, giving me experience with compliance, anxious parents, and the inner workings of Jewish camps.
Three years ago, I started building this quietly — designing systems, recruiting educators, and preparing the nonprofit groundwork.
Now, with 501(c)(3) status secured, we’re finally ready to share it publicly.
